The Institute is located in the capital city as compared to institute in other towns where per capita income is high and meritorious students seek admission in professional institutes. The Institute with its mission to provide higher education to all strata of society gives admission to all students who apply for BA, BSc course. Some students also take up part time jobs. All these factors show the effect on performance of students. The faculty still tries to engage remedial classes and increase passing percentage.

5.2.3 How does the institution facilitate student progression to higher level of education and/or towards employment?

The Institute has a Career Oriented Certificate course for first year B.A. and B.Sc. students. The course has been approved by Goa University and funded by UGC.

The Institution offers a PG Diploma Program in Journalism and Mass Communication on campus i.e. PGDJMC. Thus students interested in a career in journalism have an opportunity to continue their education within the campus itself.

The Institution also offers a PG Certificate Course in Industrial and Analytical Techniques. The students interested in joining Industry are given exposure to industrial techniques and interaction with technocrats. On-job training in industries provides them the placement.

The Institute organizes interactive sessions with members of the Alumni and experts to motivate students towards higher education.

5.2.4 Enumerate the special support provided to students who are at risk of failure and drop out?

The Institution provides remedial coaching to students who are at the risk of failure at odd semesters. The Institute has a mentoring system which includes the mentor, counselor, H.o.D, Principal, Vice-Principals, and coordinators of various committees. The mentor meets students once a month in groups and when required meets the student individually. Such meetings help the mentor to identify and help academically weaker and economically needy students. The mentor also contributes to physical, psycho-socio development of students.
