Two Days workshop on “Prospects for export of vegetables by Goan Farmers” organized by Department of Botany & Economics.
The Department of Botany & Economics in association with Goa State Horticultural Corporation Ltd., Directorate of Agriculture & Zonal office, Bank of India conducted a two day workshop on “Prospects for export of vegetables by Goan Farmers”. Total 100 farmers and 120 students attended the workshop. The resource persons were from Department of Agriculture & Goa state Horticultural corporation Ltd., exporters, faculty of Dhempe College of Arts and Science. Workshop was inaugurated on 27th August 2018 at the hands of Shri. Subhash Phadte, Deputy Manager, Zonal office Bank of India at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall. The valedictory function was held on 28th August 2018. Shri. Vijai Sardesai, Minister for Agriculture was the Chief Guest. Shri. Pravin Zantye, Chairman GSHCL was Guest of Honour, Mrs. Pallavi Dempo, Trustee DCT presided the function. Also present were Shri. Nelson Figueiredo, Director, Directorate of Agriculture, Mr. Madhav Kelkar, MD, GSHCL and Dr. Vrinda Borker, Principal, Dhempe College ,of Arts and Science.

31 जुलाई 2018 को धेंपे महाविद्यालय में “संत तुलसीदास और प्रेमचंद जयंती” मनायी गयी। इस शुभ अवसर पर प्रमुख अतिथि एवं वक्ता के रूप में श्रीमति उमा प्रियोळकर मौजूद रहीं । अन्य मान्यवरों में महाविद्यालय की प्राचार्या डॉ.वृंदा बोरकर, उपप्राचार्या मंजिरी बर्वे, भारतीय भाषा संकाय की विभागाध्यक्षा अंजु साखरदांडे मौजूद थी । कार्यक्रम का सूत्रसंचालन तृतीय वर्ष की छात्रा मधुरा वेतोस्कर तथा द्वितीय वर्ष की छात्रा साहिली सक्सेना ने किया । इसके अलावा कविता वाचन, प्रेमचंद की कहानी ‘ठाकुर का कुआँ’ पर नाट्यप्रस्तुति, भरतनाट्यम् आदि कार्यक्रम में प्रस्तुत किये गये ।
One day workshop on ' Budding Entrepreneurs ' of foodomania group on 31st July, 2018.
Entrepreneurship Development cell of Dhempe College of Arts and Science organized a one day workshop on ‘ Budding Entrepreneurs ‘ of foodomania groyp5on 31st July, 2018. Various related aspects in entrepreneurship was covers in this workshop. A session on ‘costing and pricing’ was taken by Dr. Shilpa Samant from Economics department of our college. Followed by a session on ‘Nutrional labelling and rules based on FSSI 2011. A session on ‘ Developing and Marketing a Product’ was conducted by Mr. Nikhil Divekar , a young successful entrepreneur. Mr. Nelson Fernandes from FDA held a session on ‘Registration and licensing’ followed by a session by Mr. Ajay Gramopadhye on ‘ Eco friendly packaging ‘ and a session on ‘Government schemes for entrepreneurs ‘ by Mr. Sudip FalDesai from Goa Innovation Council. This workshop was attended and highly appreciated by 45 budding entrepreneurs who are keen in starting up their business venture. The session on ‘ Nutritional labelling’ was taken by Mrs. Varsha Naik.
A Event on Fifth edition of “Carpe Diem”.
The Department of English at Dhempe College, Miramar organized the fifth edition of “Carpe Diem”, the department’s initiation event for the first year students recently. The Teachers and students donned the garbs of the dark souls of literature. The Head of the Department, Professor Clarinda Dias, Dressed as The Sea Witch Ursula, set the mood for the day with an enthusiastic welcome address. The Department faculty were dressed in their darkest best- Akshata Bhatt as The Queen of Hearts, Palia Pandit as Bane, Tara Saldanha as the Evil Queen in disguise and Gauravi Khaunte as Wednesday.While the first year students transformed into doppelgangers of characters such as Harlequin, Boogieman, Valak, Poison Ivy, Belatrix Lestrange and Maleficent that created an atmosphere of horror in the hall, the Principal, Dr Vrinda Borker, reminded everyone to look for the good amidst evil too. The Department seniors put up an opening act following which they organized a couple of activities and spot prizes for the first year students. The students then participated in a cosplay which was judged by the departments ex students. The event was a successful attempt to introduce the spirit, unity and enthusiasm of the department to the fresher’s. The students were presented with animated bookmarks as mementos for the day.

Two days Flipped learning workshop held on 29th -30th June 2018
A workshop on Flipped Learning was conducted on 29th and 30th June 2018 for the faculty members of Dhempe College of Arts and Science. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Swati Pawar. The faculty members were introduced to learning strategies and web resources to be used in classrooms which would enchance the teaching learning process.
Report on the Exhibition held on 6th January 2018 on the theme "Know Gandhi, Follow Gandhi"
Honourable, Governor of Goa, Dr. Smt. Mridula Sinha, requested all the institutions of learning to conduct a programme on the theme “Know Gandhi follow Gandhi”. Department of Economics, D.C.T’s Dhempe College of Arts & Science motivated students to demonstrate their creative skills in the form of visual effects on various Gandhian values that will develop their personality and become better human beings in our society. Accordingly an exhibition of their creative skills in the form of art effects, presentations etc. was held on 6th January 2018 within the campus and was inaugurated by esteemed Chief Guest Dr. Srinivas Kaveri, Director of INSERM, India in the presence of our Principal Dr. Vrinda Borker and the Administrator of D.C.T’s institutions Mr. Rajesh Bhatikar. The total number of students who participated in this exhibition were 62 and the art effects displayed for exhibition were 52 in number. The Principal Dr. Vrinda Borker appreciated the students for their whole – hearted involvement and briefed the students so that they imbibe themselves with Gandhian values for betterment of our society.
Report on International Online Certificate Course on "Advanced Immunology".
The International Online certificate course on ‘Advanced Immunology’ by Department of Biotechnology, Dempo Charities Trust Dhempe College of Arts and Science in collaboration with Dr. Srinivas Kaveri the Director, CNRS, New Delhi was inaugrated on 6th February 2018. The inaugural ceremony was held in the distinguished presence of the dignitaries, the Administrator, Shri Rajesh Bhatikar, Principal, Dr. Vrinda Borker, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Manjiri Barve, In-charge, Department of Biotechnology, Mrs. Mrunal Phadke, the chief guest and guest speaker, Dr. Srinivas Kaveri,. The Principal welcomed and introduced the chief guest to the gathering followed by the invocation song by the T.Y.B.Sc. students Ms. Rakshatee Khajuria and Ms. Mahak Karapurkar. The dignitaries were welcomed with fruit baskets followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Dr. Srinivas Kaveri conducted the first lecture on the ‘Introduction to Immune system’. The ssession was very interactive with different questions posed by the enthusiastic students. The T.Y.B.Sc. student Mr. Bhagesh Hunakunti proposed the Vote of Thanks.

‘Across the Boundaries’: A Workshop on Careers and Education by Mr. Amey Samarth and Mrs. Deepti Samarth Career is the main concern of every individual nowadays. There is a lot of confusion, especially among the students about job opportunities, how to apply etc. So the Department of Zoology of Dhempe College of Arts and Science tried to enlighten the students by organizing a workshop focussing on career guidance, job opportunities and CV writing. The workshop was held in the seminar hall on 11th September 2017. The two eminent speakers for the day were resource persons from Genesis Careers and Education, Mr. Amey Samarth and Mrs. Deepti Samarth. Mr. Amey Samarth is the founder of Genesis Careers and Education. He completed his Masters in Biotechnology from Bangalore and was a Gold medalist for the same. He served as Assistant Professor in Biotechnology and Pharmacy, Mumbai University and also worked as Head of Training and Publication Department, Thyrocare Technologies. Mrs Deepti Samarth has done her graduation in Biotechnology and is currently working as Human Resource Manager in Bajaj Electricals. She is certified in Competency based Assessment from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
One day Ideation workshop was organized in Dhempe College Arts and Science Miramar on 10th Jan 2018.

Anaemia Detection Camp at Dhempe College
Anaemia Detection Camp at Dhempe College. Anaemia is referred as silent Killer in women in India. It may be cause of maternal mortality. According to a survey 55%of women are anaemic in India and so our nation tops the list with anaemic women and children. In Dhempe College girls outnumber boys. These girls are future mothers of our society and to have healthy next generation we have to focus on their well being. It was thought of addressing this issue by holding anaemia Detection Camp of all students. We appreciate kind gesture of our alumnus Dr. Vallabh Dhaimodker, Vidya Diagnostic pvt. Ltd. He carried out the analysis of nearly 600 students. The College also is thankful to Goa Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association for financially supporting the cause, especially President Sanjay Priolker, our alumnus. The camp continued for three days under health center, Dr Lina and her team. Feather in the cap was presence of Ms. Neelatai Dempo, mother of our Chairman for inaugural function, apt person for the event.
