National Webinar on ‘Challenging Conventional Narratives- A Gender Dialogue”

A national webinar on “Challenging Conventional Narratives- a Gender Dialogue” was organised by the Department of Political Science faculty; Dr. Karuna Singh, Mr. Mohit Sukhtankar and Ms. Divya Parmar on 11.03.2022 at 10:30 am in the Vivekananda Hall of the College. The resource speakers for the program were Prof. Bijayalakshmi Nanda, Principal, Miranda House, Delhi University, Mr. Charudutta Panigrahi and Mrs. Asha Vernekar, Development Professionals, FIDR-GLF. The webinar began with the Welcome address by Dr. Karuna Singh followed by the Principal’s keynote address. The context setting of the event was done by Ms. Divya Parmar followed by the brief introduction of the three eminent resource speakers. The resource speakers Mrs. Asha Vernekar and Mr. Charudutta Panigrahi took over the session where they delivered a presentation on gender as a social construct and as it functions today. Prof. Bijayalakshmi Nanda took over the next session deliberating on the issues around efficacy of law implementation in constantly changing contemporary legal landscape. The talks by resource speakers were followed by student presentations by Ms. Gauri Neurekar on patriarchy as root cause of gender inequality and Mr. Sameer Shaikh on the political economy of gender.

The entire session was an extremely interactive session. The webinar concluded with a question-and answer session and a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Mohit Sukhtankar at 1:30 pm. The total number of registered participants was 203.
