The Department of English under the aegis of the Digital Language Laboratory and Skill Development Centre, Dhempe College is proud to present its first short term course for Children: WORD- PECKER.

Word Pecker  2019, a spoken English enhancement course, organized by the Department of English, Dhempe College of Arts & Science, focused on aiding students of ages 8-15, hone their spoken English. The idea was to utilize unconventional means of developing interest in enhancing one’s communicative abilities.

Haiku writing and recitation, black-out poetry, shadow puppetry and origami art were some of the techniques taught to students to enable them to express themselves through artistic means.

In order to improve the vocabulary of the students, with a keen focus on syntax, the three day workshop employed computation learning, at the Dhempe College Digital Language Laboratory and Skill Development Centre, that aided and bettered the traditional teaching method, whilst also ensuring the students were thoroughly engaged.
